Captain of South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, Ronwen Williams, has emphasized the importance of securing all three points in their upcoming clash against Nigeria.
Hugo Broos’ team is set to face the Super Eagles in a key Group D fixture at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday night.
South Africa currently lead Group C with 16 points from seven matches, while Nigeria sit third with seven points from the same number of games.
A victory over the Super Eagles could potentially seal South Africa’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, depending on outcomes from other group fixtures.
Williams, who plays for Mamelodi Sundowns, stated that the team is fully focused on the task at hand and not distracted by results elsewhere.
“The most important thing is to get the job done. We do not want any favours from anyone, we want to do things our way,” Williams was quoted by Safa.net.
