Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling declined an offer to join Bayern Munich, a Champions League club, during the final days of the summer transfer window.
Last season, Sterling was on loan at Arsenal, one of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals in London.
The England international has not been included in Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s squad since the summer and has been training separately from the first team.
According to The Athletic, the 30-year-old received a late offer from Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga club inquired about him during discussions to loan Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.
However, Sterling turned down the opportunity, reportedly due to reluctance to move his family to Germany or be separated from them for a long time.
Meanwhile, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany recently expressed that his connection with Sterling “will always remain.”
The pair were teammates at Manchester City for four years, during which they won six major trophies, including the Premier League.
