Chelsea icon John Terry has admitted he doesn’t see his former club as genuine contenders for the Premier League title this season.

Terry pointed to the team’s lack of experience as a significant obstacle in their pursuit of top-flight glory.

The Blues have had a decent start to the new campaign, recording two wins and a draw from their opening three fixtures.

Last season, Chelsea lifted the Conference League trophy and secured qualification for the Champions League.

Despite those achievements, Terry remains skeptical about their title credentials, stating that the current squad lacks the experience needed to compete with established sides like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal.

“I’m not sure Chelsea have enough experience within their squad to push Liverpool and also I don’t want to put pressure on the Chelsea squad as well, so I think it’s Liverpool’s to lose,” he told talkSPORT.

“We are a young squad. Do I think we will? No I don’t, being honest with you but I think we’ll be right amongst it.”

Chelsea play Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday as they hope to sustain their fine start to the season.
