Stanley Nwabali remains confident that the Super Eagles can secure a victory against South Africa in Tuesday night’s World Cup qualifier in Bloemfontein.

Nigeria needs a win in this matchday eight fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers to narrow the gap between them and Group C leaders, Bafana Bafana.

South Africa currently leads the group with 16 points after seven matches.

The Super Eagles sit in third place with 10 points.

The home side is expected to benefit from strong fan support, creating a challenging atmosphere for the Nigerian team.

Despite this, Nwabali believes his side is prepared to rise to the occasion and return with all three points.

I feel like we have a very strong squad to match any country. I don’t see them beating us. I know we respect them, but they are not favourites.

“They are doing well, even topping the group. I believe it is going to be a tough game tomorrow but we will come out stronger.”
