Former Nigerian international Victor Ikpeba has identified what he believes is the main challenge facing the Super Eagles ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Tuesday.
Ikpeba pointed out that the frequent changes in the team’s coaching staff in recent months have created instability, which he sees as the core issue.
It should be remembered that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appointed Finidi George after ending their relationship with Jose Peseiro.
Finidi was later dismissed, and Augustine Eguavoen stepped in as interim head coach.
Eventually, the NFF brought in Eric Chelle to take over from Eguavoen.
“We have a new manager. The biggest problem is that we have changed too many managers,” Ikpeba told PrimeSports with Mahlatse.
“We had one for the first two games, and then another for the next two.
“It doesn’t really help the stability of the team. The continuity just isn’t there.”
