Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Portuguese national team, has expressed his joy following their dominant 5-0 victory over Armenia in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on Saturday.
Joao Felix opened the scoring for Portugal in the 10th minute, and Ronaldo followed up with a second goal just eleven minutes later.
The Al-Nassr striker dedicated his goal to the late Diogo Jota, pointing skyward in tribute after scoring.
Joao Cancelo extended Portugal’s lead with a third goal, before Ronaldo found the net again to make it four. Felix wrapped up the match with his second goal, securing a convincing win for the visitors.
The qualifier took place at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium.
Reacting after the game, Ronaldo posted on his X account: “First step taken.”
Portugal will now prepare to face Hungary in their next qualifier, scheduled for Tuesday.
