Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has shed light on why he opted against a move to Chelsea during the recent summer transfer window.
The young talent was reportedly on the radar of the Premier League club, who had shown interest in bringing him to west London.
However, Lopez decided to remain with the Catalan giants and did not pursue a switch to England.
“The Chelsea offer? In the end, my priority has always been to stay at Barça,” Lopez was quoted by TouchlineX as saying.
“I came here when I was 12 years old. It’s always nice to have another club interested in you, but I always had the idea of continuing at Barça and succeeding here.”
The midfielder is currently under contract with Barcelona until 2029.
In a related development, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick also addressed the interest shown by Chelsea in the Spanish player during the summer.
