The Senegal national football team plans to display the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy ahead of its friendly match against Peru in Paris, despite the title being officially revoked by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

CAF recently stripped Senegal of its 2025 AFCON championship after ruling that the team forfeited the final against Morocco by briefly leaving the field in protest of a late penalty. Consequently, the win was overturned, and a 3–0 victory was awarded to Morocco.

In defiance of the ruling, Senegal’s football federation is organizing a trophy presentation at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis before the upcoming match. The move reflects the team’s stance that their on field achievement should still be honored.

Officials from Senegal have criticized CAF’s decision as unfair and have filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), seeking to overturn the ruling. Federation president Abdoulaye Fall condemned the decision, describing it as an administrative injustice and vowing to pursue the matter legally.

The situation has sparked debate among fans and football commentators, many of whom believe the trophy should reflect what happened during the match. By parading the trophy, Senegal is asserting the symbolic value of its victory, even though the official title remains contested.
