Chelsea have been fined by the Football Association (FA) ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

The sanction comes after the west London club accumulated several bookings during their recent game at Old Trafford against Manchester United.

Last weekend, Manchester United secured only their second Premier League win of the season, defeating Chelsea 2-1.

Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez, was shown a straight red card within the first five minutes of the match.

Shortly before halftime, United’s Brazilian midfielder Casemiro received a second yellow card, reducing both teams to ten players.

Chelsea collected six yellow cards during the game, which were issued to Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah, Enzo Fernandez, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Tyrique George.

According to The Daily Mail, the club has been fined £25,000 by the FA.

Earlier in September 2024, Chelsea were fined the same amount after receiving eight yellow cards in a match against Bournemouth.

This fine was increased to £50,000 in October following six bookings against Nottingham Forest, and then to £75,000 for another six cautions against Newcastle later that month.

In their last five matches, Chelsea have accumulated 12 yellow cards and one red card.

Only Bournemouth (14), Crystal Palace (13), Everton (13), and Brighton (13) have more bookings than Chelsea this season.

The west London club has received more yellow cards than any other team in each of the past two seasons.
