Inter Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets has announced that he will retire at the conclusion of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.

He made the announcement in a video shared on Instagram.

In the video, Busquets reflected on a career spanning nearly two decades, during which he also represented Spain and Barcelona.

“I feel like it’s time to say goodbye to my career as a professional soccer player.

“It has been almost 20 years of enjoying this incredible story that I always dreamed of,” Busquets said on Instagram.

Throughout his career, Busquets has secured multiple LaLiga titles, Copa del Rey victories, Champions League wins, as well as the 2008 European Championship, 2010 World Cup, and 2012 European Championship.

He joined Inter Miami in 2023 to play alongside Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba.
