Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer has suggested that Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim may be at risk of losing his position if his team fails to perform against Chelsea on Saturday.
United are set to welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford, aiming to secure just their second victory of the season.
A poor result could see Amorim’s side slip into the relegation zone, depending on how other fixtures unfold.
Currently, the Red Devils sit 14th in the table with four points from four matches. Despite the pressure, Amorim has remained committed to his 3-4-3 tactical approach.
Shearer told Betfair: “I don’t think they can afford to be beaten like that again this weekend.
“If they were then you’d have to fear for what’s going to happen going forward for the manager.
“Amorim knows, he believes, and he will either keep or lose his job. It’s a really interesting weekend and one where he can’t take another beating like they did last weekend.”
