Tobi Amusan has credited divine intervention for her impressive performance at the 2025 World Athletics Championships.
The reigning world record holder rebounded from a disappointing showing at the 2024 Paris Olympics by securing a silver medal in the women’s 100m hurdles, finishing in 12.28 seconds.
Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji claimed the gold medal with a winning time of 12.24 seconds.
Amusan made history as only the second Nigerian athlete to earn multiple medals at the World Athletics Championships, joining the ranks of Blessing Okagbare and Ese Brume.
The 28-year-old described her path to this achievement as incredibly challenging.
“It’s been God, the journey has been extremely rough. I’ve taken more L’s than wins and I’m just thankful that I have a great support system: my coach, my family, my mentors, my loved ones, my fans,” she told Making of Champions.
