Former world boxing champion Ricky Hatton has passed away at the age of 46.

His death comes just weeks after he had announced plans for a return to the ring.

Hatton was discovered at his residence in Greater Manchester on Sunday morning. Authorities have confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated: “Officers were called by a member of the public to attend Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at 6:45 am today where they found the body of a 46-year-old man. There are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”

Known in the boxing world as “The Hitman,” Hatton enjoyed a successful career spanning from 1997 to 2012, during which he claimed multiple world and national titles.

He is survived by his son, Campbell; two daughters, Millie and Fearne; and a granddaughter, Lyla.
