A total of 17 nations have now confirmed their participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Morocco has become the first African nation to book a spot in the tournament after a commanding 5-0 victory over Niger Republic on Friday.
The Atlas Lions have been dominant in Group E, winning all five of their qualifiers so far. With 15 points and two matches remaining, they’ve secured an unassailable lead.
Having reached the semi-finals in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Morocco will aim to make another deep run when they return to the global stage next year.
The North Africans will join 16 other countries that have already qualified.
On Thursday, Uruguay, Colombia, and Paraguay secured their places during the penultimate round of South American qualifiers. They now join fellow CONMEBOL representatives Argentina, Brazil, and Ecuador, who had already sealed their spots.
As hosts, the United States, Mexico, and Canada gained automatic entry into the competition.
From Asia and Oceania, Japan, Iran, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Jordan, New Zealand, and Australia have also locked in their participation for the 2026 tournament.
