Brazilian winger Antony has disclosed that he turned down a late offer from Bayern Munich before completing a permanent move away from Manchester United.
The 25-year-old finalized his transfer to Real Betis on deadline day, ending his time with the Premier League side.
Betis secured Antony’s services for a reported fee of £21.65 million after the player had previously spent the latter half of last season on loan at the La Liga club. His loan spell came after limited opportunities under Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim.
Antony, who was officially presented as a Betis player in Spain on Tuesday, confirmed that a last-minute approach from Bayern was rejected in favor of continuing his journey with the Spanish side.
“I spoke with Bayern, I don’t know if it [the salary offer] was €7 million, but I said I had Betis’ word and that it was 95% closed and that I would respect my word,” Antony told Cadena COPE.
“I feel calm about making this decision because I am very happy here. More than five teams called me.”
