Arsenal and Liverpool have announced transfer moves for Ismael Kabia and James McConnell, respectively, just ahead of their Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday.

Arsenal confirmed via their website on Friday that Kabia has been loaned to League Two club Shrewsbury Town for the entire season.

The 19-year-old joined Arsenal’s academy in March 2017 and recently signed his second professional contract with the club.

Kabia, a versatile winger, was an unused substitute on 13 occasions last season in both the Premier League and Champions League under Mikel Arteta. He made his first-team debut in Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup third round at Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, Liverpool announced that McConnell has joined Ajax on loan for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, after signing a new long-term deal with the Reds.

The 20-year-old will gain valuable senior experience under former Liverpool coach John Heitinga, who now manages Ajax.

McConnell joined Liverpool’s academy at U15 level from Sunderland and has since progressed through the ranks, making 13 appearances for the senior team so far.
