Tolu Arokodare’s transfer to Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers will set a new record for the highest outgoing transfer in the history of Belgian Pro League team, KRC Genk.
Wolves have agreed to a €27 million fee for the Nigerian international, who is set to undergo his medical examination on Saturday (today).
Genk acquired the forward from Ligue 2 side Amiens for just €5 million in January 2023, meaning they will make a substantial profit from the sale.
The previous record for the club’s most expensive outgoing transfer was set by Sander Berge, who joined Sheffield United for €25 million in 2020.
Other notable high-value departures from Genk include Kevin de Bruyne and Arokodare’s fellow Nigerian, Wilfred Ndidi.
Arokodare arrives at Molineux with high expectations, having finished as the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League last season with 21 goals.
He will become the second Nigerian to play for the club, following in the footsteps of former international Seyi Olofinjana.
