Genk head coach Thorsten Fink has explained why Tolu Arokodare was left out of the squad for Thursday’s UEFA Europa Conference League clash against Lech Poznan.
According to Fink, the decision was made to avoid unnecessary risks, as the Nigerian forward is close to finalizing a move away from the club.
Wolverhampton Wanderers from the Premier League are said to be in discussions with Genk regarding a potential transfer for Arokodare.
The striker is reportedly open to a move to Molineux, with Wolves prepared to offer €20 million for the deal.
Fink acknowledged that talks are ongoing between both clubs over the player’s future.
“Negotiations are underway.“A club is interested. It was too risky for both parties to play,” the gaffer told HLN.
Arokodare was the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League last season, netting 21 goals.
