Mohammed Mubarak, a 10-year-old chess talent from Yobe State, is on track to become the youngest participant at the 2025 National Youth Games, set to be held in Asaba, Delta State.
Before heading out for the event, Mubarak shared his enthusiasm, revealing that he started playing chess at the age of 7 and has actively taken part in both state and zonal qualifying rounds.
His coach, Chuxphoenix, spoke highly of the young athlete’s commitment and skill, emphasizing that Mubarak has already gained valuable experience in the competitive scene.
“With his passion for chess and determination to succeed, Mubarak is set to make a mark at the 2025 National Youth Games, “Chuxphoenix expressed.
This tournament will be Mubarak’s debut on a national platform, and he is looking forward to displaying his abilities in front of a wider audience.
The 9th edition of the National Youth Games will be hosted in Asaba, Delta State, from August 29 to September 6, 2025. The event will feature participants from all 36 states and the FCT competing in over 37 sporting events, including athletics, football, basketball, and others aimed at fostering unity and instilling discipline through sports.
