Liverpool forward Rio Chima Ngumoha is eligible to play for Nigeria.

Ngumoha made history for the Premier League champions by scoring a stunning winner in the 100th minute against Newcastle United on Monday.

The 16-year-old was introduced as a substitute in the 94th minute with the score tied at 2-2 and delivered a late curling goal to secure victory for the Reds.

Earlier, Ryan Gravenberch’s low shot had given Liverpool the lead despite Newcastle’s strong performance, before Anthony Gordon was shown a red card for a foul on Virgil van Dijk.

In the second half, Hugo Ekitike extended Newcastle’s lead with his second goal in as many games under manager Arne Slot.

Bruno Guimarães pulled one back with a powerful header, and substitute William Osula leveled the match in the 88th minute.

In the dying moments, Dominik Szoboszlai delivered a cross that Ngumoha expertly finished to score.

This goal made Ngumoha the youngest Premier League goalscorer in Liverpool’s history.

Though born in England to Nigerian parents and having represented England at youth level, Ngumoha remains eligible to represent Nigeria.
